In America, obesity is a big problem. Too many people are over weight and this causes heart disease, strokes and many other health concerns. People know this but they still eat fast food. Fast food chains such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Arby’s, White Castle, Taco Bell and Dunkin Donuts are all over. People go to these places because they are hungry, it is quick and cheap. Even though it is quick and cheap it is not healthy for you!
The food at these restaurants are deep fried, loaded with the bad for you fats, the portions are big and to wash it down you get a huge sugary soda. To have this every once in a while, like one time a month isn’t bad, but many people go there once a week or more. This is what is one of the causes of obesity in our country.
If you do go to one of these restaurants, they often offer healthy choices. These include, apples yogurt parfaits, salads with low fat dressing, wraps made with grilled chicken, drink choices such as milk or water. You can also order a burger without the bun and they will serve it to you with some lettuce tomato and onion, The restaurants sometimes lose money with the healthy foods they offer because people are not choosing them. The food is going bad before they sell it.
The fast food restaurants are often blamed for the obesity problem, people say the food can be addicting. The choice to eat the unhealthy food is the buyers, the healthy choices are offered, they aren’t forcing you to eat the french fries you can choose apple fries instead. Other choices you can make is to not super size your meal even though it is so cheap. You can also share your meal with another friend, because they do give you so much. Even just drinking water instead of soda is a good start. Knowing how much fat is in the food you eat should help you to make these healthier choices.

  1. Fantastic job Kian! I am going to answer both of your questions if I were to pick a number of how many times I go to a fast food resturant it would be aboout 7 times a year. And answering your second question, if I went to a fast food resturant I think I would get different things depending on where it was if it was McDonalds and such I would get a salad of some sort but like at Panera Bread I would get a sandwich. It all depends on where it is they all have different types of foods with different tastes. I liked your questions keep up the good work!!!!!!!

  2. This message you left it extremly true. These places are very unhealthy for your body, I have no clue how many times I go to a fast food resturant a year. It isn’t a huge number though. I don’t have it much but working out and eating other heLthy foods help. I do 4 hours of sports a week and it keeps me active. It keeps my heart rate where it’s supposed to be. As long as you don’t over eat fatty foods they are okay to eat. Also you need fat in your body so really it’s not As bad all the time.

  3. Nice blog. The Garden State has the highest percentage of overweight and obese children under age 5, at 17.7 percent, according to a 2004 survey by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Even at Terrill some of the snacks at school that are served are can cause obesity for example the funnel cakes. Stop eating greasy foods and start eating healthy.

  4. I agree with all of you if people dont stop eating greasy, fating food then nobody will be able to get up at times or move around and animals and people may start dying from not being walked.I also agree with danny that terrill middle school foods consit of fating foods such as churros, funnel cakes, icecream and cookies.I would suggest eating healthier things like salads, fruit, and white meat chicken instead of fried.
