When you get sunburned By Madison D.

If you ever go to the beach and forget to put on sunscreen, your skin will turn bright red. You might not care about it, but it is very harmful and is a serious issue. Sun burn happens when the sun’s ultraviolet radiation heats up your skin.  The ultraviolet molecules hit your skin and damage your skin molecules. Most of them are DNA. At most times, you body’s mechanisms can repair the DNA damage. Being in the sun so much, can lead to skin cancer. The swelling and pain come from the dilation of cutaneous blood vessels and recruitment of inflammatory cells. These symptoms don’t really appear until a long time after your skin has been damaged. The reason why your skin peels is because your skin is damaged. Many years later, if your skin continuously is damaged by the sun , you may get skin cancer which can result in death.

To treat sunburn, use moisturizing creams and lotions. In addition, fluids, aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications work. If the sunburn is life threatening, see a doctor or rush to the hospital immediately. If you want to protect your skin in the sun, use a higher SPF (sun protection factor) number. When ever your in the sun, repeatedly put sunscreen on, if you don’t you’ll get badly burnt.
